NAGOYA: Shooters Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet won the 10m air pistol mixed team final on Friday, giving India its second gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games. Their victory followed the Indian women’s cricket team’s earlier gold.
The pair topped qualification with a score of 587 and carried that form into the final. They finished with 484.6 points, 6.6 ahead of South Korea’s Choo Gaeun and Hong Suhyeon, to claim the title.
The result was a turnaround for both shooters after disappointment in their individual events. Suruchi had missed the women’s 10m air pistol final, while Kamaljeet finished ninth in the men’s event, just outside the final places. Together, they produced the performance needed to reach the top of the podium.
India narrowly missed another shooting gold on the same day. Its men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team finished with silver behind China. Even so, Suruchi and Kamaljeet’s victory gave India a major boost as the Games continued.
