MUMBAI, September 26: Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s film The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest collected an estimated ₹8 crore net in India on its opening Friday, according to box-office figures cited by Hindustan Times. The film reached theatres on September 25, and its first-day earnings were reported on Saturday.
The opening puts The Vvaan ahead of the reported first-day collections of Batwara 1947 and Haiwaan. The ₹8 crore figure is an early industry estimate, however, and may change when final box-office figures are compiled.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, the film stars Malhotra and Bhatia alongside an ensemble cast that includes Sunil Grover and Shweta Tiwari. It blends fantasy and horror with elements drawn from Indian folklore. Reviews have been mixed, making its performance over the rest of the opening weekend an important test of audience interest.
Hindustan Times, citing box-office tracker Sacnilk, reported that attendance increased after the morning shows. A first-day total shows how a film started, but does not establish whether it will become a commercial hit. Saturday and Sunday collections will provide a clearer picture of whether the opening momentum continues.
