DHAKA, September 26: Three people were killed and at least 15 others injured when two buses collided on the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway in Bangladesh’s Madaripur district, according to a report published today by The Daily Star. The crash happened on Friday, September 25, in the Bakhrerkandi area of Shibchar.
Highway police said a Dhaka-bound Palki Paribahan bus had developed a flat tyre near Pacchar and was parked beside the expressway. A Hanif Paribahan bus then struck it from behind. The three people who died were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Their identities had not been confirmed when the report was published.
Police officers, firefighters and local residents helped take the injured to private hospitals, where they were receiving treatment. An inspector at Shibchar Highway Police Station said both buses had been seized. The report did not establish why the second bus hit the parked vehicle.
